The ruins at the the Western Mansions, a complex of 18th-century European-style buildings in the Old Summer Palace (Yuanmingyuan) in Beijing . The Summer Palace were destroyed by British and French troops in 1860 during the Second Opium War. Yuanmingyuan was built in the 18th and early 19th century as a complex of palaces and gardens. In the 1980s was the site reclaimed by the government and turned into a historical site and public park.
